Thank you for choosing StackGauge. Your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy explains how your information is handled when using StackGauge, a macOS application that operates locally on your device.
StackGauge has no server of its own and does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to us. It reads local data written by the coding tools you connect, currently Claude Code and Codex, to show your usage limits and spend. From those local files it decodes only usage metadata like timestamps, model identifiers, request and message identifiers, and token-usage counts. The content of your prompts, responses, tool calls, and files is never read, stored, or displayed.
For Claude Code, live usage limits are provided through its own local status-line integration. StackGauge sets this up locally, with your permission, and reads the resulting status file on your device. Codex records its own usage limits as part of normal operation, so StackGauge only reads them and installs nothing. No usage data is sent anywhere by StackGauge.
If you choose to see your exact billed cost, you may connect an Anthropic Admin API key. This key is stored in your macOS Keychain, remains on your Mac, and is sent only to Anthropic's API to retrieve your cost report. StackGauge does not transmit the key or your cost data to any other party. You can disconnect the key at any time, which removes it from the Keychain.
Aside from the optional, user-initiated connection to Anthropic's API described above, StackGauge does not integrate or use any third-party services, analytics, or tracking.
StackGauge asks for access to each connected tool's local folder, and only to read usage data. For Claude Code it also installs the status-line integration described above. Codex access is read-only. Each tool is authorized separately, you can connect just one, and access can be withdrawn at any time. These permissions are used strictly for the app's local operations and are not used to transmit data externally.
Because StackGauge keeps your data on your device and only ever contacts Anthropic's API when you explicitly connect a key, there is no StackGauge-operated service that could expose your information.
